Although yesterday started out on a pretty uneventful note, the stress began to pick up shortly after 9 a.m. I have a very dear friend, Sue, that I met through work. She has been battling a rare kind of uterine cancer since this past January. She has tried many kinds of different treatments, including radiation and chemo therapy, and she has been seen by the specialists at the MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas. Apparently, the cancer is far too advanced to do surgery, and Sue has suffered many disappointing setbacks. She has certainly fought the good fight and has maintained a good attitude throughout the entire ordeal. This past week, she had a typical CAT scan to determine her progress. The doctors found that she had a blood clot in her lung, and sent her to Vanderbilt Hospital, in Nashville, to remedy this situation. After successful treatment for the blood clot, they administered a new kind of chemo. She had an adverse reaction to this new treatment and has been placed in an induced coma and transferred to the cardiac intensive care unit. So far, there has been no change, and her condition is very unstable. All of this news made for a very upsetting day yesterday. I imagine that today will be the same way, since I'm waiting for updates to come from family and friends. So, I'm sending out all of the prayers and good thoughts that I can, and hoping that everything turns out all right for her and her family.
