Big Day Tomorrow
Casey is doing REALLY well. He spent the better part of yesterday up and about. He even cooked dinner! By last night he was in a good deal of pain, but they said that was to be expected. Tomorrow he goes back for another physical therapy appointment. Tomorrow night, if he feels like it, we are going with some friends to see Long Way Down. We'll see. He may not feel like it. Anyway, I'm taking the day off tomorrow to get him back and forth to physical therapy. Everyone keep their fingers crossed!

Relieved!!
Casey's surgery went well. The doctor removed a spur from his shoulder and some of the end of his collar bone. The spur ended up being a lot bigger than they thought. We were told that it was good that he went ahead and had it removed. We were looking at a torn rotor cuff sooner than later, had it stayed in. He's had very little pain. They did a nerve block on him, so he didn't feel anything in his shoulder and arm for nearly 24 hours! Even afterwards, there hasn't been much pain. Well, until his first physical therapy yesterday. The doctor really wants him to move it, so scar tissue won't form and hinder his movement. He made it through it, and we have to go back on Thursday. Thanks to everyone for the e-mails, prayers, and well wishes. They have been greatly appreciated!

At The Fair: Dog Show Report
The dog show went really well last night. We set up and registered everyone smoothly. The weather couldn't have been more perfect. Everyone was in good spirits, including all of the dogs. I was excited to see some Schipperkes, including a puppy, come to participate. They are not real common around these parts. Of course, I'm partial to them because of my beloved Bear. Below are some pictures from the event:

Madame Chairman
I am the chairman for the Bedford County Fair Dog Show again this year. Tomorrow night is the big night. I have everything ready to go. I LOVE doing the fair show. Once I get everyone registered, I can sit back and relax and watch the show. My humane association always takes this opportunity to advertise our Celebration Pet Day event too! Hopefully, the weather will be nice tomorrow night. Anyone that's close enough, come on down!

The Week To Come
Casey decided after several months of physical therapy, to just go ahead and have the spur on his shoulder surgically removed. He went to the orthopedist last Tuesday and scheduled his surgery. He is scheduled for Friday, the 25th. This coming Tuesday, we have to go and meet with his doctors again for all of the pre-op stuff. This next week is going to be absolutely CRAZY!! I am in charge of the Bedford County Fair Dog Show again this year, and that takes place on Wednesday night. Thursday, I'm dropping the puppies off at Jennie's to board them for a couple of days, until Casey's feeling better. They are SO enthusiastic, and I don't want them jumping all over him. I'm not sure what time his surgery is on Friday, but we'll find out on Tuesday.
Since Casey will be recovering for the next couple of weeks, we've decided to just go out and have some fun this weekend. I'm not exactly sure what all we'll do, but I won't be around for a couple of days. Everyone have a great weekend!

Committed
I took the plunge. I registered yesterday for my first 5k. There's no backing out now. I'm up to running 4.5 miles easily, so I'm going further than a 5k. It's on August 23rd. Hopefully, the heat won't do me in too badly. Starting this week, I'm going to run outside at least once a week. The actual race starts at 7:00 a.m., so maybe it won't be too miserable outside. I can hope can't I? I'm already a little nervous, even though I know I shouldn't be. I'm not particularly racing for a good time, but just to run the whole thing and finish. It's more of a personal goal, than anything else. There's no backing out now!

Oh Friday!
After such a short week last week, this week is dragging. I've still been busy bottle feeding the kittens. They are growing like weeds! All of them now have their eyes open, and they are beginning to get around a little bit. It won't be long, before they're all over the place! Boy, are they eating good too! Feeding time is taking longer and longer now.
Other than that, the week has been pretty normal. There isn't anything out of the ordinary to report. I suppose that could be a good thing though. We had such a big weekend last week, that I don't think we have anything planned this week. We are just going to take it as it comes. We've batted around the idea of maybe going to the drive-in, but we'll have to keep an eye on the weather.
Well, I'm off to get some things done! Everyone have a good afternoon!

4th of July Recap
The Kittens Are GROWING!!
Well, we've had the kittens a week today. I just can't believe how much they've grown!! The boy, Gordon Ramsay, is a pig. He's by far the biggest and loudest of the three. Shingo is still playing "mama" to them. He bathes them, protects them, and herds them. This morning, one of the girls climbed out of the box, and he herded her back and let us know. He was satisfied once we put her back in the box. He's attentive. I have to give him that. All three have opened their eyes over the last two days. Ramsay was the first. Here are some new pictures of their progress.

Shingo LOVES the kittens!!
Indiana loves them too...
Shingo decides they need to be re-bathed after Indiana did an insufficient job.

The New Arrivals
Well, here they are in their debut!! Everyone is doing just terrific. I can almost see them growing before my eyes. They are bottle feeding REALLY well now. Slowly but surely, we're getting a routine. And Shingo, well he's the funniest thing. He's turned into a little "mama"! He bathes them and protects them. He won't hardly let the others even get close to them. It's too funny! Enjoy the pictures!
Checking out the new arrivals
Shingo has really started to "mother" them, even though he is a boy. He won't let any of the others get near them, and he bathes them.

Indiana finally gets his turn.

Girl #1. Solid black.
Girl #2. Black on her back, and tabby everywhere else. Look at Shingo taking part!!
The boy, which I think we are going to keep. Since his head looks like it's been frosted blonde, we've named him Gordon Ramsay Richardson.

Oh EXCITEMENT!!!
Most of yesterday and today have been a blur. Right after lunch yesterday, Casey and I received a call from a friend. It seems that 3 little kittens came to their loading dock, on an 18 wheeler from Montgomery, Alabama. They needed somewhere for them to go FAST, before Animal Control picked them up. They had already told the folks that they would take them back and just put them down. Casey and I told them we'd take them....of course!!! We went by and got them after work. They were tiny, tiny, tiny!! We, along with Kim, took them to Dr. K's and had them checked out. They were deemed about a week old and healthy. Right now, we're bottle feeding them about every 3 hours, and the puppies are bathing them for us!! Too cute! I, however, look like the walking dead today from the schedule. My other coworker, Jen (she works nights) is kitty sitting and feeding during the day for us. We'll pick them up, after we get off from work. I'll have lots of pics to share tomorrow!!
