It's been such a super busy day! I have really nothing of interest to report, except I'm glad that it's over now. The one spot, where I could take a breath, was at lunch. There was an agility trial going on close by, and we dropped by and had a look. It's going on until Saturday, so we're taking the camera to work with us. I'm really tired tonight. I guess that I really haven't fully recovered from the brohchitis yet. So, I'm just going to veg out with the puppies and a little bit of Hell's Kitchen. So, I leave you all with this (it really made me laugh).

2009 Book Review #8: Fade
Fade by Lisa McMann
Fade was an awesome read!! I raced through it, the same as I did with Wake. Dreamcatching is such an interesting concept, and now Janie is using her special ability to help catch a sexual predator. This book was intense and riveting, and I loved it. I could actually feel Janie's confusion and pain as she struggled with her abilities. I also like that she finds out that she can manipulate other people's dreams as well, if she practices. I highly recommend Fade to folks who like a very different story and a quick read.

New Neighbor Babies
My neighbors down the street have the cutest little female Rat Terrier. Her name is Princess. Three weeks ago, Princess had a litter of 4 puppies. All 4 were boys. Anyway on Monday, I was finally well enough to go and meet the puppies for the first time. They were ALL such cuties, and all 4 have loving homes waiting for them. Here's some pictures of the new, little family.
Here's Mama: Princess
And now the babies!!!

Book Review #7: Preliminary Review of City of Glass
City of Glass by Cassandra Clare
I just finished reading Cassandra Clare's City of Glass on Thursday. All I can say right now, until the official release date of March 26th, is READ THIS BOOK!! Unlike City of Bones that was a lot of set up and history of the story, City of Glass moves at very quick pace. I couldn't put it down!! I read the entire thing, while working and sick, in two days!! This is the book that Mortal Instruments fans have waited for for the last year!! GREAT READ!!

Paws For A Cause 5K
I had SO planned to run this race tomorrow. Unfortunately, I'm still battling this nasty case of bronchitis, and I'll never have enough air to do it. I DO encourage anyone that is close enough to run this race or do the fun walk. It is for a VERY worthy cause.
The Bedford County Spay/Neuter Committee is holding Paws for a Cause, a 5K Run and Fun Walk, on February 21, 2008 with proceeds going toward the building of a spay/neuter clinic in Bedford County.
Special guests at this years Paws for a Cause are Nan Kelley, host of Great American Country's top 20 Countdown and Live at the Opry and her husband Charlie Kelley, guitarist and record producer, whose album by his group "The Boxhounds" was nominated for a Grammy this year will be kicking off the 5K Run and 1 mile Fun Run to benefit the spay/neuter clinic. Also, Charlie will be selling his CD and giving the proceeds to the committee.
You can google Nan Kelley to get more information about her. She is a former Miss Mississippi and you can see Charlie at www.theboxhounds.com.

Award Time!!
Joan and the gang over at Lab Tails have gifted me with a Honest Scrap Award. Thanks to Joan, Rudy, Ridge, Elsie, Tuc, and Pinot!!
"When accepting this auspicious award, you must write a post bragging about it, including the name of the misguided soul who thinks you deserve such acclaim, and link back to said person so everyone knows he or she is real. Choose a minimum of seven (7) blogs that you find brilliant in content or design. Or improvise by including bloggers who have no idea who you are because you don’t have seven (7) friends. Show the seven (7) random victims’ names and links and leave a comment informing them that they were prized with “Honest Weblog”. Well, there’s no prize, really, but they can keep the nifty icon. Next, in your blog, list at least ten honest things about yourself. Then, pass it on!"O.K. now for the honest scraps: 1. Casey and I have been heading the "Zoo" together for over 11 years. 2. Our totals right now are: 5 dogs plus the spare dog, 8 cats, 5 bearded dragons, 1 crested gecko, and 5 Leopard Geckos. 3. There are days that I like animals better than most people. 4. I would go hungry, before I ever let my animals go hungry. 5. Casey is my very best friend in the whole world! 6. Right now, I feel like I'm never going to get over this bronchitis! 7. I don't really like to act my age. 8. I actually love to exercise! 9. I really, truly, deeply, HATE winter!! 10. I'd really prefer to live in southeast Florida. Since I'm not feeling very well right now, I'd like to extend the invitation to any of my blog friends to accept this award!

Halo Thar!
Just wanted to check in quickly and let you all know that I'm finally feeling a bit better. I've spent every day, since Saturday, battling bronchitis. Luckily, I already had a dr.'s appointment scheduled for Monday. I got a shot, some good anitbiotics, and orders for breathing treatments. I was finally able to get out of bed for a while today. Even though the shot has cleared my lungs and made me feel better, it has made me hyper. It's also caused me to have insomnia, which is a side effect. I haven't hardly slept any since Monday. I'm hoping maybe tonight will be different, but it's not looking hopeful at this point. I'm still waiting to get my voice back too. I think this loldog sums up my week:

2009 Book Reviews: #6
Impossible by Nancy Werlin
This book is by FAR the best book I've read this year. It is extremely well written. The story is a fairy tale that is grounded in a very modern day world. I especially loved the historical aspect of the story and the research involved in this story. I also enjoyed the look into folk music and musical lyrics. It was a rivetying story that I couldn't put down. I read the whole thing, in less than 24 hours. Definitely a "goodreads" book!

2009 Book Review: #5
The Disreputable History of Frankie Landau-Banks by E. Lockhart
This book was AWESOME in a way that I can't even begin to explain. I can see why it's a Printz Honor book. There are SO many themes in this book, but I think the one that stands out to me is to be yourself and not who people expect you to be. Also, feminism plays a strong role. This story was completely predictable, but with completely unpredictable twists and turns. I highly recommend it for a good read.

Please Vote For Indiana
I've entered Indiana in the United State Humane Society Spay Day contest. All of money he receives for votes, will be donated to a local charity in Fayetteville, Tennessee. Votes are as little as $5.00. Won't you please help me help Indiana win?

I Wanted to Just Die...
during my circuit training class tonight. But now that I've cooled off, I feel pretty great! I always dread it beforehand, but it always makes me feel better. I had a pretty good day at work today. I spent a lot of time catching up with my students and also showing the gang Indiana's 1st birthday pictures. I think this one
just might be my very favorite. I'm about to feed the puppies the very last of the cake. They've been enjoying it, since Sunday. The cake was homemade, so it has no preservatives. The shelf life is very short. Then again, no dog treats ever sit around here long enough to spoil...homemade or not.

Indiana's First Birthday
Today was Indiana's first birthday. We celebrated in style with a party and doggie cake. All of the dogs had a GREAT time, and we did too. Even Grandma came over for the festivities. Here's the shots from the party.
